3 Signs Your AC Needs Professional Repair Help

It doesn't matter if it is the start of summer or if summer is wrapping up if you see any of the signs below. Your air conditioning needs repair right away to get your system operating effectively and to avoid future damage to your system.

Sign #1: Reduction in Airflow

You use your air conditioning system daily, and thus you know how much air should be coming out of your vents. If you notice that the airflow from your vents isn't coming out with the same speed or power as before, this is an important observation.

If the air isn't coming out with the same speed or force, that could mean one of two things. First, the air could be getting trapped in the system somewhere, which will cause the coils to freeze up. Second, you could have damaged ductwork causing the air to escape into unoccupied spaces, such as your crawlspace or basement, instead of your home.

Either way, this issue needs to be addressed right away because, without the right airflow, your house isn't going to stay cool.

Sign #2: Lukewarm Air

If the air is coming out of your vents with the right force but not the right temperature, you have an issue on your hands. A variety of issues can cause the air that is coming out of your vents to feel lukewarm instead of nice and cold. Generally, this is a sign that you have a refrigerant leak, as the refrigerant is the main component responsible for your air getting cool.

You could also have a component overheating within the system, thus heating up the air and keeping it from getting cool.

Sign #3: Strange Sound

Once again, you know what sounds are normal when your air conditioning system is running. If you suddenly start to hear a sound that is atypical, and that sound persists when your system is running, you are going to want to bring in a repair professional right away.

Any strange clanging, hissing, buzzing, moaning, or humming sounds should be investigated right away. Allowing these sounds to continue could result in damage to your system that will get more expensive to repair the more extensive the damage gets.

It doesn't matter if it is the start of the summer or the end of summer; if your air conditioning system starts to act up, you are going to want to bring in an AC repair technician to fix things right away. If the airflow is weak or warm or if your unit starts to make strange sounds, bring in a professional to fix your system right away.
